AKTINA FM Presents Lavrentis Machairitsas in Concert
On Thursday, November 7th AKTINA Productions Inc. concludes its cycle of celebrating 20 years of broadcasting with a concert featuring Lavrentis Machairitsas, Greece’s leading singer/songwriter, in his debut performance in the U.S. The event will take place at the Kaye Playhouse, Hunter College (E. 68th St., between Park & Lexington Aves) and it will start at 7:30pm.
Enhanced with videos and everlasting hits from Machairitsas’ personal discography over the years, this one of a kind concert was long awaited! In this debut performance in the U.S. Lavrentis promises his fans a memorable two-hour performance which will also pay tribute to great Greek composers such as Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis among others. He is accompanied by popular singer Dimitra Papiou, the renowned classical guitarist Panagiotis Margaris and orchestra comprised by the acclaimed Greek soloists Zinovia Arvanitidi, piano/vocals, Akis Amprazis, bass and Filippos Spyropoulos, percussion.
Lavrentis Machairitsas whose contributions to Greek music are immense and span over 3 decades, emerged in the late 70’s as a musician, songwriter and singer. During his long and impressive career he has distinguished himself as one of the leading contemporary/folk musicians and songwriters with thousands of fans all over Greece and around the globe. His career is also highlighted with many recordings and collaborations with leading Greek and International stars. Over 40 renowned Greek stars and over 20 internationally acclaimed stars have collaborated with Machairitsas in recordings, live performances and also performed his songs including the legends: George Dalaras, Maria Farantouri, Dionyssis Savopoulos, Angelo Braduardi, Salvadore Adamo, Tonino Carotone, Christophe, Anne-Catherine Gillet, Bernard Lavillier among many others.
