Greek legendary songwriter/singer Lavrentis Machairitsas will perform once again to support New York’s public service media, AKTINA FM and TV during AKTINA’s next “GREEK MUSIC JOURNEY” concert series on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 8:30pm at the historic theater, The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, on 68th Street between Park and Lexigton Avenues in Manhattan, Ν.Υ. He is accompanied by his distinguished musicians and popular songwriter/singer Miltos Paschalidis. The concert is co-presented by the non-profit cultural organizations AKTINA Productions, Inc., and CYPRECO Of America, Inc.

Mahairitsas who celebrates 40 years in the Greek music scene returns to New York in full force carrying with him his distinguished repertoire comprised by countless of everlasting hit songs which we love and which continue to be very popular. His songs are exceptional and over the years they have marked and highlight the history of Greek song as well as his career. The performance will also include songs from his latest successful album “Mia trypa ston kero….kyrie Mano” (A hole in time…Mr. Manos).

Lavrentis ranks among the most distinguished artists in Greece who excels in talent, ethos and style both as a songwriter and a singer. Thus, it is no coincidence that his songs stand as representative “pillars” in Greek music for four decades….everlasting and without an expiration date, always fresh and always popular!

Apart from the countless hits songs which comprise his rich personal discography and are crowned with Platinum and Gold certifications, several other renowned Greek artists have also performed and recorded his songs such as Dionyssis Savvopoulos, Vasilis Papakonstantinou, Haris Alexiou, Maria Farantouri, Dimitra Galani and others. He has also collaborated in recordings and live performances with over 20 world-acclaimed non-Greek artists such as Salvadore Adamo, Tonino Carotone, Christophe, Anne Catherine Gillet, Bernard Lavilliers, Maria Pilar Piluca, Quantor Stevens, Josep Tero, Vasco Rossi and others.

Miltos Paschalidis who is making his debut performance in the U.S., will add a very special note to the entire performance. He’s been working closely with Machairitsas for several years while he also carries with him his own very impressive resume and career in Greek music which spans for over 24 years. He was a founding member of the music group “Hainides”. As a songwriter/singer he has released some 9 personal albums and has participated as a guest in over 50 albums of other Greek artists.

Referring to the upcoming performance, the President of AKTINA and CYPRECO and the concert’s Executive Producer, Elena Maroulleti stressed that, “We feel exceptionally happy and honored that Mr. Machairitsas, whom we consider a dear friend and benefactor is returning to present another memorable performance to the members of our community and to our general audience who are looking forward to this concert. Since this past April when we announced that he will be our guest on November 6th during our next concert from the series “GREEK MUSIC JOURNEY”, the demand for tickets has been unprecedented, however we still have a long way to go. This verifies how much our fans truly appreciate and support our non-profit organizations as well as the artists we select for every new performance. What is even more important however is the fact that our audience and our selected artists also support a very worthy cause which is the preservation of our non-profit radio and television programs AKTINA FM and TV. As it is widely known both broadcast from the same public service and commercial-free station and to remain on the air they depend on public support. In this respect, benefit performances and concerts such this one along with the generous direct contributions they receive from their audience, provide a very important source of financial support to preserve them on the air. As it is also widely known, the entire Board and staff of AKTINA and CYPRECO work without any salaries and purely on a volunteer basis and they all share the same vision which is the promotion and preservation of the rich heritage, culture, folklore and representative music of Greece and Cyprus in America. Both us and Lavrentis Machairitsas and all members of his band promise to all of our friends who will attend that they will have another amazing and unique experience during this new musical performance”.
